ExpoFinds: Tea Pops

Most frozen desserts are high in fat and loaded with junk. So we were excited to find DeeBee’s Organic Tea Pops at EXPO. These frozen bars are made of brewed teas and fresh fruit juice. They’re organic, non-GMO and gluten-free with five flavors: Berries and Cherries, Tropical Mango, Minty Mint and Toasted Coconut; there’s also Southern Iced Tea, but that one contains honey and isn’t vegan.

We got to meet the doctor (that’s right!) who came up with this product. It came about when her two sons were  making tea beverages – and they got inspired to make “teasicles”. From there, the family experimented with varieties of tea and juice, and came up with their favorites. The idea was to make a frozen treat that is both healthful to please parents and delicious enough that even picky kids would love it.

After sampling the Berries and Cherries Tea Pop, we think they came up with a winning product! It was sweet but still had the underlying aroma of  tea woven into each bite. There was no sugar crash after this treat – it was refreshing and bright with sophisticated flavors that will excite adults and enough sweetness to please little ones. Personally, I cannot WAIT to get my hands on these again!

Currently, Tea Pops are available at some Wegman’s stores and other locations in the northeast USA. Because it’s a frozen treat, they can’t be shipped, so ask your local grocer to carry them if no stores near you carry these tasty pops! Tea Pops is located in Canada, so keep checking your freezer aisles – hopefully they will be broadly available soon!
